10th edition: A new beginning

Having played Craftworld Eldar since third edition, when the new Leagues of Votann were launched, I felt it was finally time for a change of armies in Warhammer 40k. But their somewhat tumultous launch turned me off them for a bit, and then life happened and I didn’t play much 40k for a year. But now, with the advent of 10th edition, I’m picking the game back up – and finally getting into Votann.

They’ve changed a lot, but I don’t actually mind the changes. WS/BS 4+ on basic guys seem to fit the fluff, Hearthkyn Warriors are basically militia, not elite. But they kept our elites on 3+, and our commanders even better for the most part. I like that. I’m less crazy that everything is about judgement tokens, but I can live with it. I’m very sad about losing site-to-site teleportation. But overall, as soon as they fix the game balance (and really, noone should expect a new edition to be balanced right away) I think will enjoy my new faction.

This blog will contain my thoughts on the Leagues of Votann as I take them into 10th edition. There might be battle reports. There might be fanfiction. We’ll see!
